Partnership gives Bowtie direct access to official company registry data in over 150 countries, automating corporate client verification inside the insurer’s existing policy administration system.
Bowtie, Hong Kong’s first virtual insurer, has announced a strategic partnership with Know Your Customer Limited, an award-winning RegTech company, to digitise and automate Know Your Business (KYB) processes in Hong Kong’s insurance sector. The collaboration strengthens Bowtie’s anti-money laundering (AML) and corporate onboarding workflows, using Know Your Customer Limited’s real-time registry technology to support compliance with the Insurance Authority’s requirements.
Fred Ngan, Co-Founder of Bowtie, said: “Our partnership with Know Your Customer Limited enables us to harness their advanced RegTech solutions and real-time business verification capabilities to strengthen our compliance processes. This collaboration deepens our understanding of our business clients while helping us meet regulatory requirements efficiently, thereby reinforcing trust in the insurance sector. By integrating these technologies, we are advancing our mission to bridge the health protection gap in Hong Kong, making protection easier and more confident to access.”
Know Your Customer Limited’s platform offers direct access to official company registries in over 150 countries, with records drawn from the primary source in real time. The integration strengthens customer due diligence and automates Bowtie’s KYB processes by connecting to Bowtie’s policy administration system via an API, allowing compliance staff to run a company search inside the workflow they already use and to verify a client’s corporate structure without leaving the system.
Claus Christensen, CEO and Co-Founder of Know Your Customer Limited, said: “We are delighted to partner with Bowtie and to bring our RegTech solutions to their insurance platform, reinforcing the synergy between RegTech and InsurTech. Our real-time registry data and smart automation will support Bowtie in streamlining their Know Your Business processes, strengthening compliance and helping them navigate regulatory complexity while giving their clients a faster experience.”
Chapter 4 (Customer due diligence) of the Insurance Authority’s Guideline on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing (GL3), which took effect on 30 May 2025, requires insurers to identify and verify their customers and any beneficial owners, including understanding the ownership and control structure behind corporate customers. Through this partnership, Bowtie is implementing enhanced due diligence and ongoing monitoring processes designed to meet those requirements and to support transparency and accountability.
The partnership supports both Bowtie’s compliance obligations and a faster onboarding experience for its corporate clients.
